Mosquito Stops Time?

Can a mosquito stop time?  The answer in 3 minutes or less...

Bedtime...
Cuddling and snuggling...happy time!
Getting our reading on!
Story giggles...conversation and wondering...
Reading...chatting...
Feeling sleepy...
Lights out-click, click, click!

bzzzzzzzz
                                                  zzzzz    z z                         zzz         zz

zz
                          zzz                           z                                 zzz                zzz

zzzzzzz                             zzzz                                 zz

"Mommy, I hear a mosquito buzzing!"
"Me too!"

Lights on--CLICK!
Hunting for the swatter...eyes darting around the room to find the tool that will end the zzzz-ing!

Nothing in view-a big tissue!
Arms flying through the air-the elimination process has begun!

zzzzz                    zzz
                                                                            zzzzzzzzzzz
         zzz                           zz                                    z                          zzz

 zzzzz
                                         zzz                                                          zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz           zzzz

                                           zzz                        zz                 zzzz z
"Where'd it go?"
"There it is Momma-up by the clock!!"
SWAT!
SWAT!
SWISH
"Ugh!  I missed it!"

SWAT
SWAT
STRETCH-ST-R-ET-CH!
CRASH!
"What was that?" called Daddy from the other room.
"The clock!  I knocked the clock off the wall while swatting the stupid mosquito!"

Dead mosquito, broken clock!  It stopped time...yes, it stopped time!  Now no time!

  1. Hilarious! We can't walk out our door without being attacked this year. Thankfully we haven't had to fight one inside get.

  6. Amy, how delightful! I love this poem with dialogue, sound, and action. The title is so appropriate. Now, I suppose you are off to buy a new clock.

  9. I love so much about this post..the way you wrote it made me feel the urgency you must have felt as you chased it around the room. Then the zzz all over the place...genius!! And finally the end...it really did stop time in more ways than one. :) Thanks for making me laugh at the end of the day.

  10. I laughed, laughed, and laughed while reading your blog. It was well-written in a way that allowed me to visibly see the moments unfolding as you described them.

At this point, I have a bite on my ankle from last week. Mosquitos have been awful in DFW metroplex. Yes, they can stop time and stop a conversation mid-sentence while the swatting occurs for minutes.
