Around our house we love to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas! (Now I know, this song will be stuck in your head too!) and this week's slice is all about our Nattie eating the favorite fruits and her two year old mindset when thinking about what mommy does to the fruit.
On Friday morning, Nattie came downstairs from her full night of sleep (yay) in her big girl bed (more on that here) and announced, "I'm hungry!" So, doing what any loving mother would do, I poured a little bowl of Cheerios for her and watched her gobble them up! She then proceeded to say, "I'm hungry!" (Yep, just like the very hungry caterpillar). So, I offered her a banana...here's the funny part! I moved to "slice" it up rather than just offer it "monkey style"!
After giving it to her, she cried out in earnest, "my banana, it broken! I no want it broken Mama!" And immediately began stacking the slices back together as if they were a puzzle to be reconnected! Then she started to cry. I felt horrible and will no longer serve "broken" banana to my little monkey!
