The Journaling Markers

Tuesday's Slice of Life from the Two Writing Teachers
During yesterday's quick write from Jo Knowles, I worked to make a list of everything in my scrapbooking room...the item I love best is my journaling markers...Here's their story!

Looking at all our colors, we're different shades and hues.
Wondering about today, which of us she'll choose!

Giving life to pictures, the story in addition
When our scrapper picks us up, she is on a mission.

Loving it when we open up, our skinny end or fat,
Scribbling, scrolling across the pages, that's where the story's at!

Selecting colors carefully to complement or contrast
Wondering if the journaling will move along slowly or really very fast

Thinking of the extra things we sometimes get to do
Our scrapper let's us decorate with little doodles too!

Admiring us for what we do, we love our scrapper friend!
We love it when we get to write completed pages near the end...

Admitting that we might be done and soon be put away
Lid capped tightly, back in the basket, we'll story another day!

  1. Amy, I probably won't look at my markers the same way again. I think there are a lot of mine that are screaming at me "Use me, Use me!"

    1. Yes, Mine are too, I actually teased them by writing this...I still didn't use them. I haven't scrapped in a long time-since Nattie was born!

  2. What a lovely "look" into your "values." I share your love of markers, pens, crayons and especially notebooks. Yesterday, I noticed they were stacked in bins in my local WalMart. My husband had to pull me away and remind me that my "vacation" was only 2 days "old"....sigh...they will always make me excited!

    1. Mr. Sketch scenty markers are my favorites for the classroom. I love those the best! It is hard to resist when the stores begin to put out the back to school supplies!

  3. Such fun to create a voice, where one was not there. I actually love the look you make of your scrapbooks. Your 'markers' help you make those pages very nice indeed! They are lucky to have you, Amy (te he)!

    1. Thanks Linda! It's a love-love relationship-I love my markers and they love me. I've only had a few who've failed me over the years...

    1. Michelle,
Unfortunately, I have not actually made time to scrap, those pages were pre-Nattie! I do love it and am wanting so badly to get back to it, but I have work that needs done before I can do that. Maybe some day...

  5. Beautiful pages! I haven't had my scrapbooks out in awhile. I guess I haven't been listening closely enough to my markers!

I haven't either-just the Monday morning warm-up made me think about them...I love scrapbooking though!

  6. Amy- this is a fun post. I love, love, love all different kinds of pens and markers and hear their voices calling "Buy me, buy me!" every time I walk by the shelves in Office Depot! Yikes! I loved looking at your scrapbook pages to0- that is a hobby I always wanted to try!

    1. carol,
Scrapping is fun! If you just want to try something easy, shutterfly has a nice way to upload pictures and make beautifully bound books if there are special events you want to remember.

  7. Such a good poem with a nice rhythm. You have definitely captured the markers' point of view. And I am off to the store tomorrow to get some new markers - I love them too. The pictures - and the pages in the pictures - are so happy!

  8. Nice marker stash!

Your scrapbook pages look great. Makes me realize I've been a bit remiss when it comes to scrapbooking (for quite awhile).

    1. Thanks Stacey!
I love how all of the markers have different tips and give different texture looks to the writing.

I miss scrapping too...like I posted above, those pages were pre-Nattie! I feel bad because I haven't done nearly the amount of copious note keeping with her that I did with Kam. I guess it's just more time to spend with them that matters, right?
