Baby Book Stack
These were Nattie's selections as we were doing our reading before bedtime tonight...
I love...
I love when the crocodile snaps, you giggle and we count the monkeys...1, 2, 3, 4, 5!
I love when you stick your finger in the holes to explore the foods the Very Hungry Caterpillar eats...
I love singing the Wheels on the Bus and seeing you act out the motions...
I love saying no to each of the foods in What's for Lunch-and saying Yes to Bananas! They are your favorite...
I love naming all the growing foods with you-especially bananas!I love falling down when the letters fall out of the tree OH NO, Chicka Chicka Boom boom!
And most of all, I love that you pick your book stack every night...

So sweet! This takes me back to the awesome reads my boys begged for when they were tiny. Sniff, sniff. ;) Great slice!

That ending really says it all! I loved those days with my daughter, and reading about you and Nattie brings back that sweet feeling.
I love reading books with her...she just toddles around and brings them over from her book basket one at a time until it is time for bed...she always picks!

ReplyDeleteI love that a reading Mom shares her love with her growing babe. This is so precious and heartfelt.
ReplyDeleteThanks...I know it was a great help to my son's reading life and right now she has headed down the same path...hopefully we will continue to grow our readers!
DeleteYour post takes me back to the pleasures of stories before bed. Enjoy every precious moment of it!
ReplyDeleteI really do! I love how she just snuggles in to my lap for a cozy read!
DeleteYour SOL poem certainly takes me back to the joys of snuggling and reading with kids! My SOL poem was "inspired" about my son (the coach)who spent quite a few nights with those same monkeys and caterpillars! PS Please feel free to share it with coaches who really are very important teachers of our kids too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anita!
DeleteOh, I love this and many of the same books could be in my two year olds' book stack! So much engaging and fun reading! Thanks for sharing . . . you've got me thinking about trying this out!
ReplyDeleteLet me know how it goes if you try it out! I bet it's even more fun with twins!
DeleteThe bed-time reading is precious. Your list poem expresses it fully. As much as it is about reading, it is about togetherness.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terje!
DeleteI like how you thought about togetherness! It is just the best when she snuggles in to listen to her story!
