"Taper poilet"

To my daughter with love...
Fortunate am I that my mother thought so carefully and honestly about recording things in a beautiful journal called, "To my Daughter with Love". It's filled with life as the author records special stories of things that happened long ago, things that are happening and hopes for the future.

So I had some time over break and perused through some of the pages enjoying the little snippets of writing that are records of my being...I ran across some funnies that my mom noted in the journal. This one "taper poilet" struck me! This is what I used to say for toilet paper when I was potty training! I laughed to myself as I've been thinking so much about words lately! Especially with Nattie starting to talk more...I wonder what funny things she will start to say?

    1. Yes, I appreciate her taking the time to do this and give it to me! She surprised me with it a few weeks before I got married along with a special letter...maybe that's for another slice!

  2. I used to love watching Art Linkletter's "Kids Say the Darnedest Things". My sister used to say "dester roars" for "chest of drawers". My parents were furniture and antique dealers and so we heard a lot about "dester roars". I think it would make a good title to a book I'd better get writing!

  3. Oh, how sweet! I'm doing my best to record those little moments on another blog. Kids grow up to fast and we forget all those sweet or funny moments even though we want to hang onto them forever!!!

  4. Adorable!

I can't wait 'til my little one starts talking. I will have to keep track of what she says in writing. Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. I love when Michelle shares the things the girls say - they try so hard to repeat what we say and yet it comes out totally different. I like "flutterbys". Kuddos to your Mom for writing things down and that you are continuing with your kids.

    1. I do feel really blessed...one of her reasons for doing this was because her mom died when she was only sixteen years old. My mom wished she had more time to ask her mom things about when she was growing up...she ended up asking and discussing things with her sister...

  8. My mom recorded my first few years and I tried to do the same for my daughter. I was a great one for mixing up my syllables - brush-tooth and case-suit. My son takes the cake though - he called diarrhea, "reah-diah".

  9. Loved this! It sent me looking for my daughter's baby book to read and laugh again at some of her funny words (she is 18 now, graduating this year and heading to college). Her funnies included Popstickle and Dot Dog. Her musical renditions were also funny- "Mary had a little man," "I'm a little pee-pot," "Here we go booby-boo," and my favorite, her unique version of "Jesus Loves Me" which included "Jump, jump on the bed! the Bible tells me so!"
