Going to the Moon

Wallowing in Wonder Day 10

After, reading the Wonder of the Day, How Much Do You Weigh on the Moon?, I was inspired by a part in the last paragraph of the wonder that said, "Write a short story about what you would do on the Moon if you had the chance to go there in person. Share your story with a friend or family member."
So I thought about what it would be like to go to the moon with Nat...here is the poem about The Wonder.

Going to the Moon

Going to the Moon-
You and I together!

Hanging out having fun...
No worries about weather!

We would have to think...
about how much we'd weigh!

We'd wear special boots
so we wouldn't float away...

We could run, jump and skip!
Feeling oh-so free

Playing there on the moon...
with 1/6 the pull of gravity

I'm sure we would look-
out into the vastness of space!

Yet, know that on the moon
we'd create our own little place.

A private space trip for just you and me,
Can you imagine how special it would be?

Mother and daughter together on the moon-
Do you think we could start to plan our trip soon?

Mother Nature's April Fool

Spring is Mother Nature's April Fool!

Looking, pining, begging, and cheering to see her step onto the Northern Hemisphere's stage!
Yearning to see
...rays of sun streaming down to warm us
Longing to feel
...breezes swaying the blades of grass
Waiting to smell
...scents of blooming flowers
Reaching to touch
...what is merely a figment of our imagination for now
Desiring to taste
...products of her early works of wonder
Please step forward, come out of the fog and end these cameo only appearances!
Stop playing Mother Nature's April Fool!

Inspired by Bud Hunt's National Poetry Month picture prompt of the day!

Nature's Candles-Tulips!

Nature's Candles

Breathing deeply, taking you in,
Admiring your beautiful hues
Reminded of your celebration!

Celebrating Spring's arrival
Petals bursting forth
as flickering flames

Celebrating warmer days
drenched in the rays of the sun
sharing your life with us

Celebrating warm rains
the plip-plop of the drops
giving you a refreshing drink

A celebration, a feast for our eyes
the brilliant show of beauty
knowing nature's candles!

**As I was driving my son to school this a.m.  I noticed a bunch of tulips in front of  a little group of shops-I was so taken by the beauty of them, that it inspired this poem and I almost missed the turn off to his school because I was so deep in thought about them...He blurted, "Mommy why are you going past my school?"  I came to and made the turn just in time...

I kept thinking about the tulips all day-finally had time to write to this inspiration...

The Family's Day Together

Tuesday's Slice

The Family's Day Together

Family of four, together, happy as can be!
Making plans at first, deciding, how to spend our day,
Watching our children, seeing what they see!

Investigating, narrowing choices, wondering free or fee?
Certain we're leaving soon, almost on our way...
Family of four together! Happy as can be!

Making a final choice, going to see ChuckE,
Wondering with excitement! which silly games we'd play...
Watching our children, seeing what they see!

Driving then arriving, the "Cheddar Rat" we see!
Ordering pizza, wings, and salad now it's time to pay-
Family of four together happy as can be!

Dropping tokens in, winning tickets...one, two, three!
Knowing they were spending fast, how long would we stay?
Watching our children, seeing what they see!

Placing tickets in the pockets, trading for prizes with glee!
Smiling kids, sweet little faces, what a fabulous day!
Family of four together happy as can be!
Watching our children, seeing what they see!

**Dedicated to our children Kam and Nat, written after our journey to the "Cheddar Rat" also known as ChuckE Cheese!
**First try at the Villanelle?  Wow, it was a toughie...I wanted to tell the story of our day from start to finish...It was hard to choose wisely and get it all in...We had an excellent adventure!

Daddy's Fishing Vest

Daddy’s Fishing Vest

Look at all those pockets there!

What about the pockets my dear?

What do you put inside them?

It’s all about the fishing needs…

What does the fisherman need today?

License to fish, needed for permission!

Why do you need permission, daddy?

Follow the rules of the sport!

What do you catch with cameras?

Stories or not, one getting away…

Why would it get away, daddy?

Fish just like to be difficult…

What else is in the pockets?

Bobbers, lures, lines, leaders, hooks, weights…

          Waits?

No, weights and snacks for waits

Long waits or short waits today?

You just relax and be patient…

Ok, Daddy, I’ll wait with you,

Let’s hook some fish together today!

Me and you, you and me?

Me and you!  You and me!

Tiny Bib Pocket

And so begins National Poetry Month!

Tiny Bib Pocket

Peak in the bib pocket, what can we see?

1 tiny little hand reaches in with glee!

Some tiny fingers search for a wish...

Discover the treasure! Some tiny Gold-fish!

The treasure found, the hunt comes to an end,

Unless the Gold drops down in here again!

The tiny bib pocket
