Riding in the car with my children has always been a source of joy and pain...sometimes bringing grins from ear to ear and sometimes making me want to pull my hair out. I know that you can identify with what I'm talking about especially if you're a parent! Yesterday was no exception!
As Nattie and I drove out of the daycare parking lot, she asked me if I've ever heard of illustrator Eric Carle...I responded, yes and inquired, "What do you know about him?"
"Well, I know that he's an illustrator and Mom, he wrote The Grouchy Lady Bug! We learned about him today and we made Grouchy Lady Bugs! Mom, I'm not a grouchy ladybug!"
"Wow, that's so neat Nat! What else did you learn about him?"
"He wrote The Very Hungry Caterpillar."
Yes, he did. And when I shared this little car story with Natalie's teacher, she also mentioned the great website that Eric Carle has created. It's been awhile, so I checked it out too. Here's the link in case you're interested in checking it out too.
Loving car conversations and Carle, Eric Carle!
Love this reflection, Amy! Your post reminds me of some of our treasured car conversations! Your post made me smile.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet conversation! I love how your daughter asked you if you heard of Eric Carle... Our kids are amazed at what we actually know!

ReplyDeleteSweet.
ReplyDeleteI love how she said, "Mom, I'm not a grouchy ladybug!"
